Membership

Membership Groupings

While the focus of NZIHE membership is the pursuit of excellence in health estate and engineering management, a natural division of responsibilities exists between those whose key responsibilities involve medical facilities and those whose key responsibilities involve medical equipment.

The Institute recognises two major streams of membership, being Facilities and Biomedical and this website reflects these streams with two separated information steams.

Membership Eligibility

Potential Members

Potential Members may be directly employed in the Health Service, engineering consultants to the Health Service, or those providing products or services relating to Health Estate and Engineering.

Full Membership

Facilities

Full Membership may be offered to anyone who is involved in management or supervision of the technical aspects of Estate and Engineering in the Health Service and holds an appropriate trades certificate as a minimum.

Clinical Engineering

Full Membership may be offered to those hoding an NZCE or Diploma in a relevant discipline and employed in the field of Clinical Engineering or has an appropriate trade qualification and has a minimum of 5 years employment in this discipline.

Technician membership

Technician membership is for those involved in Clinical Engineering who have not completed 5 years of Clinical Engineering activity.

Associate Membership

Associate Membership is available to anyone who has aspiration to management and/or supervision of technical aspects of Estate or Engineering within the Health Service.

  • Support to attain registration as "REA". (Registered Engineering Associated)
